2005 Goodwood Revival
RW Racing Services took 4 cars to the famous meeting this year. The newly restored AC Cobra of Chris Phillips which ran in the TT race co driven by local driver Barrie "Whizzo" Williams (see below). The AC Cobra of Kevin Kivlochan, again driven in the TT race, this was co driven with Tony Jardine of F1 commentry fame. The Cooper King Cobra again belonging to Chris Phillips which ran in The Whitsun Trophy, and finally, the beautiful, if temperamental, Ferrrari 625 GP of Alex Boswell, which ran in the Brooklands Trophy.
After the bad weather of Thursday, the weekend weather improved greatly, and allowed the racing to go ahead in glorious sunshine. The Ferrari, after a troublesome year involving numerous engine problems, finished the race creditably and we now look forward to taking it to Estoril at the beginning of October, followed by Mugello. The Whitsun Trophy began with Chris qualifying 18th on the grid, and after a missed gear at the start and a spin during the race, he fought back admirably to finish 19th.
The TT race, the highlight of the weekend, started well with the Phillips AC qualifiying 9th on the grid. Chris started the race and handed to Barrie after 25 minutes. Barrie, unfortunately had to re-pit after one lap due to a throttle problem, which was fixed in the pit lane. This however, meant that we were two laps down on the overall race, but the car did finish well. Kevin Kivolchan's Cobra had a good race, with Tony Jardine as co-driver. Both were delighted to finish well, having had problems in previous years.
